I'm a little confused with the whole point of photoreading. I've read the book, I haven't taken a course or something like that. Anyway here are my questions.

When you apply the technique are you supposed to remember and learn from the book when you actually PR it or are you supposed to learn from the book when you super read and dip?
Does the step where you photoread bring anything at all?
Are you only supposed to photoread stuff when you've got a specific question you need an answer to? In that case, can't you just skip the whole photoreading part and just look through the book for your answer? I suspect it would be hell of a lot easier. I mean if the super reading and dipping is the whole point of photoreading then why photoread at all when you can go straight to the case?

I hope that somebody understands my questions...

Photoreading puts the information you read in your subconscious then when you activate using super reading and dipping it helps you consciously connect to the text. Super reading and dipping is not the only way to remember anything because spontaneous activation can happen.

If it is just one question I would agree with you that it would just be quicker to read the book but if you wanted to understand even more of the book then photoreading helps.

Even for just one question I've found it faster using photoreading to find the answer than just searching through the book. With the question formed in my mind as I photoread I find myself quickly drawn back to the answer once my inner mind has found it. That way I can find the information in less than 3 minutes. A curiosity what the book is about is an unasked question.

The superreading and skittering part are not so much pulling information out of the book, rather using the book to pull the information from the inner mind to the conscious mind.

so you have to have a thought out question for your book to benefit from PR?

What you have to have before you PhotoRead a book is a solid purpose to guide you through all of the steps of the PhotoReading system.

The questioning part of the process really comes into play twice, first, when you are asking yourself questions in the Prepare step, in order to obtain a solid purpose. And, secondly, you start a questioning process to ask things of your other-than-conscious mind to bring information already stored and processed into conscious awareness.

It's kind of like dumping huge amounts of information into a very large vault, and then listening for the subtle sound of the tumblers in the locking mechanism in order to open the door and gain access to all the information that has been stored there.

Activation is the process that brings information already in the other-than-conscious mind into the conscious mind for availability and use.

I hope this helps more than confuses you.

Whatever book I have in my hand I first want to have a general idea what the book is about. I then decide whether the topic even interests me.

When I have a question that I go to a reference book for... for example what code do I need to write to get information off my computer in DOS rather than through window I naturally pick up a How to DOS book and photoread that. Because I knew what I wanted from the book I quickly find it.

Usually you have some idea why you are reading or photoreading a book. Stating a clear purpose helps to stop your mind from wandering or getting side tracked

this question has been asked, and people have evaluated the system and have concluded that the photoreading step is very useful for comprehension and long term memory of the materials. you cant always understand what the inner mind does, but some people here have practiced and found that with practice the inner mind will reawaken and become more useful than you thought it could be.
