Maybe I'm not the best to speak up here, and I suspect a few other will pipe in. Science and math are things I do know. My experience is that if you can use everyday language and explain (or teach) someone about science that you really know the subject. If you have to revert to the math they you don't know it well enough. Soooo I would suggest you try making mind maps only using the concepts. Since the math just summarizes or specifies the concepts. You could think of doing a parallel mind map that has the math, since you're not going to be asked essay questions.
Most important is do the problem solving, because "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand."
