I've been able to successfully use mind-mapping with reading scientific type books that didn't have too much math. It was great for learning concepts.
Right now I'm trying to apply mind-maps with electromagnetic fields and thermodynamics. Fields is almost like looking at a calculus book. Thermo, I'm not sure how to put problem-solving processes on there.
Right now I'm thinking I'm going to right out a list of definitions for my trigger words and hopefully will start makeing associations and come up with something.
Thank you Dana so much, Fields is supposed to be the toughest course I'll ever take, many people just shoot for D's in that course and I usually struggle with my classes. I was planning on struggling for a C but this class has been enjoyable and I have a B going. Your test-takeing strategies worked so well, I listened to the self-esteem supercharger tape the night before because I usually get nervous before the test. I decided that the most important thing to do is to remain calm.
Usually before the test I look over the material but this time I just sat and relaxed.
When I first got the test It seemed like I had no idea on how to answer the questions. I remained calm and starting right stuff down and I felt like my inner mind brought stuff up information for me because I didn't seem to consciouly know how to answer the questions but I was able to link the info. I wrote down and come to a conclusion. It was a tough test, no one finished and the class average was a D.
So if anyone has any mind-mapping tips for the engineering type courses I'm takeing, I'ld like to hear them. thanks.
