It was either super reading or dipping that we were supposed to look at the upper half of the word's while scanning sentences because of the visual Que.'s, wouldn't just scanning over the entire word do the same thing; if not why?

It would but it's slower.

During superreading you look at the upper parts of the words. Whilst dipping you'll find you go to your normal reading habit. Learning to read by scanning just the top of the words improves your overall speed no matter if you superread or rapid read.

Actually, most of the time, I'm looking at the whole words. It seems to go at an unusually fast speed anyway.
