This is an area where your purpose really starts to help by keeping your mind wandering off track by associating for some kind of meaning based on your trigger words alone.
The word "duty" may attract you, so you write it down as a trigger word. Good so far. The real key is that you already know the basic idea of the reading material and the word "duty" is used in a certain context. That is the real key. This is the "why" part of the trigger word part of the PR system.
If you are PRing a novel, then part of the plot may involve a character doing something out of a sense of duty, and lead you into that part of the story.
If you are PRing a computer manual, and your purpose is set, then the word "duty" may lead to an understanding of some important component in your PC.
Purpose helps keep your mind from getting sidetracked in these areas, and Surveying will start to "build the mental structure" of the material you are involved with. This enables a trigger word like "duty" to take on a certain context within your material.
I also find that it helps me sometimes to have a small, but significant trigger phrase. Sometimes two words together have much more depth and meaning and it can make a HUGE difference when I start to Activate.
An example of this from my own studies:
The word 'eternity' generally implies something in a future context. The phrase, or term, 'eternity past' implies a significant event that has already happened. Depending on your reading material it can really clarify things and clear your steps on the path to comprehension.
