I don't see what's wrong with it, but I think that it's probably more useful as a postview. Personally, I tend to combine my postview periods with my first activation period. This involves a mind-map of the contents as the material I photoread tends to be technical. I would imagine that this is more effective because you've got the material into your subconscious after the photoreading step, and so it should probably do more good then.
