Okay, I just got through PRing two relatively large books on chess at Borders. I am going to wait, maybe take a nap, then start playing some chess online to see if I experience some spontaneous activation.

My goal is to improve my ranking to a consistent 1700-1800.

I did feel a little light headed after PRing on my ride home. Is that normal? I really have no idea whether I'm doing this right or not.

Anything would help me.

Hope you have listened to Personal Genius & Memory Supercharger tapes.

PG tape: My goal is to improve my ranking to a consistent 1700-1800.

Lightheaded is normal for a beginner who has pushed themselves too much. Layers! But, either way, your brain and eye muscles will adjust.

Light-headedness sounds familiar, as Margaret has said. Perhaps you would like to try the time-line thing from the direct learning exercise as well.

I just have the Photoreading book. So, I don't have any accompanying tapes.

Any suggestions aside from the tapes? I do plan on taking the seminar and getting the home study course eventually. But, I am making the committment to keep moving on this.

I still don't see any blip page. And, the X, well I can't seem to visualize it all the time. More times than not, I can't see it. But, I figured I would keep trying. I am going to PR at least 4-5 books per day for a while.

I feel good that, at least, the lightheadedness is normal.

Gozel,
You don't see an X for real. Just relax your gaze to widen itself to see all 4 corners of the pages at one time. That's it. And as allenhm says---just look over the middle of the book a little and the blip comes into focus naturally.

Hold a book open at a 45 degree angle so that you have room to look beyond the center to about 3 feet in front of you. That'll do it.

Look at something directly in your room. Now just relax your gaze to widen and w/o moving your eyes see more. Periphereal vision. Look up that definition.

Definitely put a slight smile on your face. Really, it helps to relax all your facial muscles. It truly makes a difference. It's a seamless kind of thing. So simple yet so effective that you wonder why we don't do it naturally. Probably as children we did. Reading and smiling and having fun.

I'll try that, Margaret. I haven't read at a 45% angle. But, I have loosened my gaze to take in all 4 corners. I don't focus on anything on the page. In fact, I have been PRing upside down since it doesn't cause me to inadvertantly focus on a word from time to time. But, I've not seen the blip page.

I will put a smile on my face next time, though. One thing I think helped me this time was silently chanting "relax and absorb". That was pretty cool.

Anyway, I am committed to doing this. I realize that anything worth doing well is worth screwing up as long as it takes to build the skill(s) to do it well.

Thanks for your input.

Gozel, on the direct learning thing. PR a few more books on chest if you can (in one sitting) include the 2 you have already PRed. You will most probably notice it building over a period of time. Just remember the closing affirmation from page 51 of the PhotoReading book. They seemed to have helped me in direct learning.
