Hi.
Your purpose for photoreading a book is basically what you wish to get from it. A good place to start is page 25 of the Photoreading book. The purposes can be as general or as specific as you like e.g. "I easily find the command for..." in a computer manual, or "I experience the novel more fully...". For textbooks, "I understand the relevant material..."
