Wow! I just started the PR system, and I'm already seeing things I wasn't sure I would see. It's exciting! I started PR, because my study habits suck, and I need something to give me the time and motivation to get through all of my materials. While I've not started PRing my texts, yet, I've already PR'd one of my own books already, and I learned quite a lot from it!

I'm beginning tape 7 tonight, and I'm sure I'll PR my biology textbook this evening. Any advice for beginning PRers is greatly appreciated!

Jeff

Just keep applying NOPS at each stage and have fun with it. Remember you can listen to the full course again. On a second run through you pick up tips and ideas that weren't as important the first time through.

Answer 1 - Thank you Alex for the encouragement on taking the course a second time to gather stuff I hadn't noticed before.

Answer 2 - I didn't see much at first (of course), but as I progressed, I saw, in a bird's eye kind of way how PR works. I like the fact that it's multifaceted in that several stages are used to envelop a book (at surprisingly quick speeds). Mostly, I enjoyed the activation part of it, in the form of mind-mapping. In fact, I went out and bought a spiral-bound 11x14in sketch book so I could get better mind maps with it. The thing that worried me before I got very far was the superreading and dipping. After I realized how much I was taking in, I realized my fear about it wasn't that big of a deal at all.

Mostly, I took the PR home course to get through classes. I suck at studying, which leads into answer 3...

I'm a 23 y/o male attending Central Washington University. I've 1 more year.

Anyways, I always knew I had a problem. I'm not very intuitive when it comes to studying and schooling in general. I was up late one night, and discovered this paid ad for PhotoReading, and I had to take a closer look. That was two years ago, now. I finally picked it up a few days ago, and here I am. Hope it goes well with my text books!

Anymore posts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Jeff

For textbooks here are some ideas you might find useful

1. Photoread the entire textbook mulitple times, once a day for 2 weeks or a month is excellent.

2. during the first activation pass or 2, (of 30 minutes) work your way through the whole book. Just to become familiar with the subject as a whole.

3. After doing a general activation pass treat each chapter as a book on its own. Activate them according to need to coincide with regular classes.

4. When activating chapters it is a good practice to photoread the 2 chapters before the one you intend to activate and the 2 following (3 to 5 chapters in all). It helps you to be in the ideal photoreading state for the key chapter as well as allowing your inner mind to absorb additional data that will make comprehension easier. Since you have already photoread the whole book you can dive right into activating the book after a photoread.

5. Activate until it gels, means allow yourself to do as many 30 minute activation passes as you find necessary to have the level of comprehension that you desire.

Have fun with it too

Thanks for the info! This has been THE technique in studying. I've never learned how to study. I guess I was just never intuitively inclined to study before. This method, the PR method, is THE technique for my personal study habits. It's great for studying large amounts of info in a much shorter amount of time!

Thanks!
Jeff
