The experience you talked of is actually rather common. Especially with smell touch and taste. The smell of something can many years later trigger a full memory of an experience. They are 'usually' very pleasant experiences like the aroma of pie might trigger a memory of an experience with ones grandmother (burnt biscuits once triggered a very detailed memory for me of an event that took place many years ago.) Vivid memories are often triggered when we touch things from our past.
You could use this for photoreading. Remembering successful photoreading sessions just prior to starting another session is actually good practice. It puts you in the postitive frame or mind for for your next photoreading session. You can create a physical trigger to fire it off at will of course. I've given a basic how to... on another thread. I could explain how to do it again if you like.
