It's kinda strange, I can get the cocktailweenie effect, the blip page, but I can't get the 3d image in the stereogram on pg.42. In fact i've never successfully seen a 3d image in a stereogram in my life for that matter. I feel like that guy in Seinfeld, you know Elliene's boss, if anyone saw that particular episode you know what I mean. Anyway I really need help, I tried both methods for weeks with no success! However I think I came close because I can see depth in the picture, with the imbedded circle in the middle and more depth surrounding it on each side of it. I'm probably making a big deal out of this, I Hear from other people they get it in seconds. Grrrrrr, "soon the 3d letters will emerge". WHERE?!!!!!!!!

I think you might be trying too hard. Relax your eyes, calm down your breath. Look at the image with relaxed gaze, trust your eyes to make sense of the image. Eventually your eyes will find the right way to focus on the image. Happy holidays.

Jon, that particular stereogram the letters are around the outside edges rather than in the center as most stereograms have. So throw some of your focus to the top and bottom edges and you'll see the letters.

Yes I am slightly near-sighted, should that pose a problem? Although I read if you are near-sighted, it's better if you leave your glasses off for this.

I focused on the top and bottom edges, one at a time of course, and found 3-D letters on the bottom, but I can't make out the word, obviously it should be PHOTOREAD. I think my brain is having trouble developing the image. If there's any other approaches I can use in order to see the 3-D letters, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes it is in two parts photo at the top read at the bottom. That is one of the more difficult 3d images to see so if you get the blip page, cocktail weenie effect etc forget about the 3d image in the manual you've already proven that you can do it. Look for some of the easier 3d images to have a go on.

There are 6 on this page you can try out. Print them out in colour or black and white (easier to get the knack of in printed from than on a computer screen) http://www.vision3d.com/sghidden.html

This site usually has 10 more http://www.magiceye.com/
the link to the selection http://www.magiceye.com/3dfun/stwkdisp.shtml

Have fun with it seeing 3D stereo. As for photoreading well just a soft focus will do the trick seeing the blip page already tells you you've got photofocus working so the random dot stereogram in the manual isn't all that important.

As for learning how to see 3D stereo this link has the best options. http://www.vision3d.com/3views.html
