Could anyone post their experiences with Ideal Weight and I am also interested in an answer to the following:

Does Ideal Weight work if you are addicted emotionally, as in to deal with your emotions, or does it only work if you have developed a bad eating habit for no specific reason? I've read of someone who was hypnotized into quitting his smoking, and soon after commited suicide as a result of not having an outlet (smoking) to deal with his problems.

All of our programs have balancing mechanisms built it. Don't worry about that.

The Ideal Weight tape is about discovering and following the natural signals we all have that tell us when to start eating, when to stop eating, and what foods to eat.

Emotional challenges might be best handled with the New History Generator. But, I also have heard from people whose emotions balanced out after finally losing weight with Ideal Weight.

Hi
According to contemporary psychology, if you have emotional problems that are associated with weight-gain, you will not likely achieve the results you want only by focusing on the emotional problems. You have to focus on the weight issues also.
That's one way that the Alcoholics Anonymous folks were ahead of the Freudian psychologists. The Freudians believed that correcting the external problem only shifted the emotional component to a different level. They did not realize that there are also habits associated with the problem that have to be corrected *now* or the problem stays with us through inertia, an inertia which reinvigorates the old emotional traumas no matter much work was done on them in the therapy room. Putting it simply, if we don't refrain from taking alcohol, therapy for this problem is useless.
It's as if the problems we have take forms in our thoughts, feelings, bodily freedom, and the actions we take. Change enough of those components and the compulsion vanishes. Usually you need to dip into all 4 elements.
You may note that I talked about refraining with respect to alcohol. That's because weight-loss can actually be an issue of many different problems, of which saying No! might be of help sometimes, while saying an emphatic Yes! might be of help other times. To understand this, you might want to purchase "The Psychologist's Eat-Anything Diet" by Leonard and Lillian Pearson. It's out of print, but you can still purchase a copy from www.abebooks.com

best wishes,

Mike
