Seeing text in the blip page is normal. It's works just as well if you just use the imaginary x technique so however the blip page looks is fine. When I use the imaginary X the blip page is very transparent its still there I'm just not paying attention to it.
With glasses it is what works for you. If you like to photoread without glasses enjoy the process 
. If it stains you too much you are probably not relaxing your eyes so you might want to keep the glasses on. Do what is more comfortable / works best for you.
