I like this question. However, I will generalize it a bit, "How should we read?". Then my answer becomes what is your purpose for reading it? Find your purpose and you'll find your manner for reading it.
Purpose (1) I want to know if PWMS really works, and whether it is learnable my most people.
With this purpose I would read it critically and look for Evidence that the system works.
Purpose (2) I want to understand the PWMS.
This method requires not attitude on my part, only a collection of information, without evaluation.
Purpose (3) I want to master the system.
For this, or any other skill development purpose, accepting the beliefs of the instructor (presumably a master) with increase you chances of satisfying your purpose.
I suspect that a lot of people want Purpose (3) to happen for them, but approach the material with an attitude appropriate for purpose (1). Some may even approach it with a more negative attitude. Just to throw in a little Yodaism "Luke: I don't believe it. Yoda: That is why you failed". Star Wars aside, attitude has a lot to do with success.
For those with purpose (1) the problem for you is that the book wasn't written to address your needs. Maybe if the people at LSC make bathtubs for of money, they will make more effort to convince the sceptics and altruistically bring enlightenment to the masses. I think for now, the business plan is to reach as many as possible, while maintaining a viable and hopefully growing business.
Hmmm, a little more than what you were looking for.
