Before we read a book about new idea, we have to consider believe it or not.My question is : Is it better to believe the author before we read?

Certainly not in all cases. But if the author is presenting you with what is time-tested, and true as it is with PhotoReading, you can be rest-assured and free to explore.

I like this question. However, I will generalize it a bit, "How should we read?". Then my answer becomes what is your purpose for reading it? Find your purpose and you'll find your manner for reading it.

Purpose (1) I want to know if PWMS really works, and whether it is learnable my most people.
With this purpose I would read it critically and look for Evidence that the system works.

Purpose (2) I want to understand the PWMS.
This method requires not attitude on my part, only a collection of information, without evaluation.

Purpose (3) I want to master the system.
For this, or any other skill development purpose, accepting the beliefs of the instructor (presumably a master) with increase you chances of satisfying your purpose.

I suspect that a lot of people want Purpose (3) to happen for them, but approach the material with an attitude appropriate for purpose (1). Some may even approach it with a more negative attitude. Just to throw in a little Yodaism "Luke: I don't believe it. Yoda: That is why you failed". Star Wars aside, attitude has a lot to do with success.

For those with purpose (1) the problem for you is that the book wasn't written to address your needs. Maybe if the people at LSC make bathtubs for of money, they will make more effort to convince the sceptics and altruistically bring enlightenment to the masses. I think for now, the business plan is to reach as many as possible, while maintaining a viable and hopefully growing business.

Hmmm, a little more than what you were looking for.

Anything that involves invoking the powers of the whole mind requires conviction. Conviction, as I use the term, means to hold something to be true without evidence.

The reason is complex, but it boils down to the way the preconscious mind chooses what to present to the conscious mind. If you believe something, their is a natural tendancy to ignore data that contradicts the belief, and to find data that fills it. This is not prejudice, or closed mindedness. Rather, it is a way for us to make sense of our world. When the inner mind believes something is impossible, it presents options to the conscious mind to lead towards that proof.

What Paul Sheele seems to advocate on the tapes is something more than just belief. It's expectancy. Don't believe that PhotoReading works, or might work for you. expect it to work. But, remain flexable enough that if it doesn't work, you can figure out how to fix it (including the fix of using the gaurentee).

Thanks Kaiden. I'm planning on review the PR material soon, but scheduling is a problem.

Just a little tongue in cheek thought. So what you are saying is the Paul says we should believe that if the expectency of PWMS to work isn't fulfilled then we will figure out how to make it work. *smirk*

Yes, that is exactly what he's saying. "Trying harder" does not help in PhotoReading. What works is knowing how to adapt what is presented to your own learning style.

Last night, I had one of those school dreams. You know the type, where it's near the end of the semester and you've missed every class? What happened was interesting, because the teacher didn't show up. I got into a discussion of the materials with the students. They presented the classes as all having the common theme of languge. Photography was the language of pictures. Science is the language of nature. Mathematics is the language of science. You can see the pattern, yes? Anything can be understood when presented the right way. The glory of your conscious mind is it's ability to present things to the other-than-conscious mind in a way that it can understand.

A good approach to PhotoReading is, knowing that it works for many thousands of people, and that it may work for you, too.

As a PhotoReading coach, I believe one of the most valuable tips to getting results with the process is for you to first focus on mastering the basics. Use all of the techniques in each of the five steps of PhotoReading on at least 7-10 books. It may come together for you right away. Or, it may come together for you while fully activating the 10th book.

So, choose mastery with a positive expectation.
