Yes, that is exactly what he's saying. "Trying harder" does not help in PhotoReading. What works is knowing how to adapt what is presented to your own learning style.
Last night, I had one of those school dreams. You know the type, where it's near the end of the semester and you've missed every class? What happened was interesting, because the teacher didn't show up. I got into a discussion of the materials with the students. They presented the classes as all having the common theme of languge. Photography was the language of pictures. Science is the language of nature. Mathematics is the language of science. You can see the pattern, yes? Anything can be understood when presented the right way. The glory of your conscious mind is it's ability to present things to the other-than-conscious mind in a way that it can understand.
