Actually it's more than just the manual activation. There's the support from LSC to ensure your best chances of success. I'm not sure if anyone else offers that with any reading course. Just look at this forum alone.

Subliminal photography and the step in the PhotoReading whole mind system where you "mentally photograph" the printed page are very similar. The idea has been around for over a century.

Paul did take a class from Subliminal Dynamics. He writes about it in the first chapter of the PhotoReading book, but he does not mention that company by name. Subliminal Dynamics did not invent the process of "mentally photographing" the printed page. They merely developed a course around it as did we.

Here is how Paul Scheele describes the comparison between PhotoReading and Subliminal Dynamics.

"At one time I promoted Richard Welch and the Subliminal Dynamics program to several classes full of my clients. My hat is tipped to him in my PhotoReading book for suggesting the concept of subliminal perception as a tool for reading.

"In truth, he now uses my name without permission in an attempt to bring credibility to a system of his that I do not feel delivers the promised result.

"I cannot endorse nor recommend in any way that you invest in the Subliminal Dynamics home study course.

"My work diverges from his in three major ways.

--1) The key is not subliminal perception. The key is the brain's capacity for preconscious processing. I've spent my years developing a protocol to capture this capacity and put it reliably in the hands of our clients.
(Reference the work of N.F. Dixon from England, and P. Lewicki at Tulsa University, Oklahoma).

-- 2) Neuro-Linguistic Programming is the basis for our techniques of putting folks in contact with the resources of the nonconscious data storage systems of the brain for activation and recall.

-- 3) Accelerative, brain-based teaching and learning are essential in the design and delivery of our programs, including the design of the book.

"If you are interested in a home study course, the PhotoReading Personal Learning Course is an excellent addition and support to the live PhotoReading course. If you attended a course from a Learning Strategies Corporation certified PhotoReading instructor, you will be eligible for a discount on the purchase of the
home study course.

"Also the new 3rd edition of the PhotoReading book contains a number of additions to the Activation chapter that you might find valuable.

"Feel free to call us here and ask any questions. We guarantee satisfaction with our course.

Sincerely,

Paul R. Scheele
Chairman

Regarding Richard Welch. He is definitely one of the innovators of "mentally photographing" printed materials, the idea has been around for over a century. But, he is absolutely not the inventor of it nor is he the inventor of
PhotoReading. I mention this because we have learned he has promoted his seminar as the "PhotoReading" seminar in Australia.

The input process of the two systems where you
"mentally photograph" the printed page are very similar.

The differences lie in:

--1) methods of teaching people to use and integrate the system, and
-- 2)"Activation" techniques. These activate information into the conscious mind so that you can more readily use the information.

Their course relies on spontaneous activation--"Keep at it and eventually it will happen." Unfortunately, that is not practical in
today's information-based world.

PhotoReading goes further by giving you tools to access and utilize the information, so you can get the comprehension you need in the time you have to work with.

PhotoReading is a practical, systematic way to increasing your reading speed, comprehension, retention significantly. There is a satisfaction guarantee and free coaching support for assistance along the way as you develop your skill.

Every aspect of PhotoReading is detailed in our easy-to-read book "The PhotoReading Whole Mind System." There are no "secrets."

Most people find PhotoReading more thorough and more practical.

It looks like they're trying to say, "We are what PhotoReading could be. PhotoReading is taking a misapplication of our material and using it as a 'gimick' to sell conventional speed-reading with fancy terms."

I try not to judge a product by its website. I do judge a product by what is available on its website, though. The ideal is equal parts entertainment, education and sales. If there's not enough information about the product for me to develop a preliminary conviction in it's powers, I won't want to purchase it.

yeah. it looks like it's actually the other way around though. They almost say more about what photoreading does than what their own system does. They offer many great and lofty promises without giving anything to back it up other than a few very brief "testamonials".

A friend of a friend of a friend, who uses something he calls "peer to peer" to transfer audio files between computers over the internet, has informed me that he downloaded something called "Subliminal Dynamics" about a week ago, but never got around to listening to it until today. He said the tape he had directly contradicted what they had on the website. Essentially, the first minute of the tape they say, "Next, Richard will explain how to use SpeedReading as a way to trigger the recall of information you have mentally PhotoGraphed. It is important to use triggering methods daily to convince your conscious mind of your results."

This is the very thing they critized PhotoReading for! Needless to say, this unknown source deleted the file immediately.

If you know what this "peer to peer" thing is, I have been told the tape in question was "subliminal dynamics, 5A" You might want to download the first one or two MB and listen to them contradict their claims. The above quote is from the first 30 seconds of the file.

oh man. i downloaded the last 2 tapes of subliminal dynamics. on one they go over how to do their version of photoreading which appears to be almost exactly the same except you only see one page at a time, i dont think you do a blip page but you do look over the top of the book, and you are supposed to through the book back to front and front to back 3 times. Also, they say that you are supposed to PR the dictionary every day and use it on at least 30 books a day! No wonder they get spontaneous activation!
But the requirements of the system are way too time consuming. They have like a ton of exercises to do that you have to do every day. I would never be able to use this system; i just dont have the time.

OK, I was PhotoReading a book on Ben Franklin, in preperation to adding him to my Inner Council. While doing so, a in-the-moment Spontanious Activation happened.

"100% recall, you say? Well, at thirty books per day I can see how easy it it would be to have 1% recall from 100 books." It was too funny not to mention.
