I am thinking about buying this self study guide for photoreading...How much will it help me and how long would it take to actually be able to do it good? I am a 10th grade high school student, and am pretty smart I guess, yet lazy. Well, I would like to call it laid back...So I am smart and all, I just don't like to put effort into a lot of things I don't care for. I fell upon this and was like hmm...If only I could do it, then reading this 700 page book for school in a few weeks time wouldnt be bad at all. Cuz honestly right now, it would take me all weeks plus one...I have to go to the internet and read summaries and character analysis, etc. to finish in time. Gifted LA for you right there...I am just not a heavy reader...but I figure, if I could learn this and could do it, I would be much better off. Seeing as I have high school to finish up, I could learn everything so much faster, understand it better too, and still have time for the band(i play guitar in it). And then, theres college...Where you supposedly get to read and read and read and thats about it. You read and understand your textbooks, and you take a test and thats college...How much easier would that be if I could actually photoread?!? Sounds much much easier. Also, I do bad on tests like writing portions of the SAT type test and all those, because they usually use a lot of big vocabulary, and I dont have one of those at all...I was hoping maybe this whole PR would make my vocab bigger, even if it meant just looking at a few pages in a dictionary and hoping I would remember the words and definitions.
I just have a few questions...is this gonna hurt my brain or anything some way cutting my life span?!? Or maybe...give me dreams at night which scare me or something like that which I saw some post on here about lucid dreaming which sounds weird too...I dont really know anything about all this mind and brain and subconcious reading...being able to control dreams and waking up whenever...thats a lot of mind stuff...Doesnt even sound human. I am just normal, go to sleep and wake up, might have had a dream but I wouldnt remember it. I read by moving my eyes across all the words.
My other question is, how long does the whole process take? I was reading where you have to get in the right state of mind, do the reading, and then all this activation stuff...If the PR only takes a few minutes all sounds good, but if the activation and planning and everything else you have to do takes a long time to do, you might as well just read it normally.
Thanks for any questions answered! I am just trying to find out a little more about it before spending 250$ on something that sounds like its not even possible. I dont want to get it and find out theres some really weird and strange side effects that might mess me up or anything. And also, would it require you to read a book a day to be able to keep doing it? Or can you just simply read like any normal person would and not amazing amounts of books, and still be able to do it whenever you need to. Also, I think I meant to say this earlier...It says that you can be PR by side B of tape one, but how long does it take to get through side A of tape one? If its as simple as just listening to it, then thats pretty fast, but if side A consists of things you need to practice and all, go over, relisten to, etc. then that may be a while before you even get to side B. I know this message turned out kind of long but hey...thats what PR is for!

It is exercise for the brain that helps to keep it active well into old age. On the whole no more than regular reading does.

You might remember more of your dreams - they can be pretty interesting. As for being scared by them - well it's a piece of irony, you create it and in effect never give yourself more than you can handle anyway. If you have something weird happening in your dreams there is often an interesting message in it. As in that lucid sream you mentions. The individual may have been giving himself the message that there is something in his outer life that he thinks he moved past on, however he has not and is likely to repeat the cycle until he 'really wakes up'. That would be my interpretation if that were my dream however it wasn't therefore it must be assessed by the individual. In any case should something like that actually happen to you, rest assured you can handle it.

To actively learn with the course you are looking at approximately 12 hours and during that time PR and activate 3 book.

The photoreading system will help you get through your reading in 1/3 to 1/5 the time it takes you to regular with with the same or even better level of comprehension. For me it beats regular reading anyday. While the system sounds like a lot of work in browsing through the forum rest assured when you actually do the course they make sense and are each easy to do if you allow it to be that way.

You'll read for enjoyment. It's not necessary to 'read' a book a day; usually we recommend PhotoReading 10 books a day for a week and activating one of them for a couple of months. That is more like reading one book a week. It helps you to on the road to mastery of they system.

None of the tapes will require more than 45 minutes per side of active learning. You listen you stop and do and listen. The maximum time is 45 minutes most are less. Then you move one to the next side/ next tape till you worked through the course once. Then you can go back and redo whatever part of the course you want to do again later or even do the whole course again. There is no need to spend more than the suggested time 'practising'; the sooner you go through the course and understand they system as a whole the sooner you do Photoreading. After that it becomes a matter of using the system and noticing yourself getting beter and better at it.

You seem a little skeptical. But you are a sophmore, so I don't blame you. I am a Junior in High School. So far, working with the system, I improvement. The reason for me not to say that I improved a lot is because I don't try enough or spend enough time to PR 10books a day. But do the system, it is good for life, and don't worry about the dreams for brain hurting. I suggest getting into ALS (acc. learning state) and just hold down page down on ebooks and relax. That's when my brain "hurts" =)

I am getting confused when everyone talks about activating it. Is that some long and hard process or something? If actually reading it can be about a page a second, that means this 700 page book Im reading for school would take about 10 minutes, verses hours and hours it would take me normally. But if the trick only cuts reading time in 1/3 or so, then thats still about 3 hours(if it was 9 total), minus the 10 minutes of PR. Thats over two hours of "activation"(2 h, 50 m). Also, do you just have no clue what you just read about until you activate it? Or do you sit there and enjoy it as your reading it like normal reading? And does it stay in a usuable memory like normal? Like would I be able to answer questions on tests about a book or would I have to sit there for question number 1, activate it by sitting there doing something weird for 10 minutes, and then move to question number 2.
-by the way, the 3 book activation thing is just what I need. In the next month or so I gotta read and test over 3 books...
-and, it seems like if you are PR 10 books a day, your gonna run out of sub concious memory, filling up all the space!

You are so skeptical superman... and you are lazy too, cuz if you had searched in the archive, you could have found all the answers to your questions.

My advice to you is to forget everything about photoreading and return to your ordinary life. You dont have the open-mindess that is needed to become a master.

You cant be lazy and using the PWMS at the same time.

Yes that is about right it would still take about 3 hours or even less with experience.

Also, do you just have no clue what you just read about until you activate it?

You have no real conscious recollection of what you have just photoread. Hence the use of manual activation techniques to bring it to your conscious mind.

Once activated the information is available to you consciously as it normally would be with regular reading. There are occasion where people have only Photoread the book and answered questions on a test spontaneously. Answering questions on a test is no different after using photoreading for studying than you have experienced with regular reading.

That's what photoreading works best for.

The brain is a marvelous thing... it creates more space In reality... it has ample space that is what is really meant by the expression that we use less than 1% of our brains capacity.

I suggest you not even bother with this system. Get your normal reading skills to where you want them and spend those hours and hours. If you do claim to be smart, or what not, then you should know all that there is to know on how to read. I recommend you change your attitude, or else just not other with this system.

skeptical, no. confused yes. I have been searching the archives. I am trying to find out what activation really is basically, since it doesnt describe it in the 5 step guide before purchasing really, and everyone on this forum already know of it. People are just talking about ways of alternating activation, etc. I know it is basically recalling it to concious memory, but I dont know how long it would take, if it stays in concious like you had just read the book, or anything like that.

Nobody knows all about anything. I am smart enough to know that. And my attitude is just that I am laid back. Not in a lazy way, but I like to be relaxed and not worry about things. For one, its school. When someone tells you to learn something, generally you won't want to quite the same as if you wanted to learn it for yourself. Like this, I want to learn it for MYSELF, along with guitar, music theory, repair of guitar, and other things. But, by knowing how to PR, it would make learning those told-to-learn materials much easier.

Superman,

Your confusion is understandable. Here is a link it briefly explains the 5 steps and is a excerpt from the book itself.

I think that this should give you a clearer insight to the system.

After activation, your memory is like regular reading. I.e your comprehension is the same or better than regular reading.

Alex
