Firstly, maybe we should discuss about myopia. Myopia is not 'old-man eyes', I think the 'old-man eyes' you mean is Presbyopia. Myopia is caused by the focus of light fallen in-front of the retina. (Presbyopia is due to accommodation inadequate, because of old age.) You said your eye was 'near-sight', is it translated from mandrine ? If removed the glass, you can see near object clearly or far object ? The Myopia is cann't see far object clearly.
I think we need some comment form other people like AlexK or KWLee, those expert photoreader, because for my openion, when you try hard to make the double-line vision clear, you have to stare at it 'forcefully', instead, we should used soft-gaze eye sight when do photo focus.
