Can people confirm that the Accelerated Learning State is basically just Alpha brainwaves.

I have a light-and-sound machine - the Proteus Mindlab. It is for brainwave entrainment using binaural beats and flashing lights.

So, if I put it on 8Hz and wear it for say half an hour, at the end of this time, will I definitely be in the ALS?

Thanks,

AJ

I think it's more of an attitude of relaxed altertness then something measurable in hertz. Not to poo-poo quantitive brain phenominon, but let's not reduce our grandest organ to a simple set of numbers.

www.lifetools.com had an article on how best to use a L&S Device like the proteus for photoreading. Sorry no time to hunt for a direct link right now.

Personally the idea of using CD's or L&S devices is inconvienient. More often than not the amount of time it takes to get set up you'll be able to enter ALS yourself and finish photoreading the book. It becomes an excuse not to Photoread. Frankly you're better off doing it poorly the first few times and allowing your mind to entrain itself to your personal best level through experience. Then you can test other devices to see if they improve the system for you.

Spot on Kaiden!

The whole alpha, beta business is bit of misnomer. I compare it to trying to figure out what people are singing about by only looking at the graphic equalizer on your stereo.

EEG's useful, but not that useful.

OK - I get you points, but how am I supposed to know when I'm in the ALS, if I don't know what it's meant to feel like?

Do you have to completely silence you inner voice?

You learn at an accelerated rate. That's how you know.

Yeah, but there's a difference between learning at an "accelerated" rate i.e. upto 500 words a minute using speed reading, and an "accelerated" rate where photoreading works properly, where 25,000 wpm seems to be the norm.

My understanding is that when you get the ALS, you can photoread because all you photoread goes directly into the inner mind. I want to know how I will know when I am in the correct state, not just to accelerate my learning a bit, but to photoread!

You've taken a moment to get relaxed, stated your affirmations, and purpose, placed the tangerine.

Softened your gaze and started turning the pages to the pace of the chant. Even if you are not perfectly in ALS at the start you will be within flipping 12 pages. Just hold the softened gaze and you will remain there.

Person one: "How many pounds per square inch do I need to use in my legs in order to run to the store at an accelerated rate?"

Person two: "Just run. Breath, don't stress yourself out, keep an even pace. Remember to stretch first."

Person one: "OK, I have one of those leg-stretching machines, what should I set it for?"

Person two: "Just stretch until you feel comfortable and able to run."

Person one: "But how do I x so that I know I can z?"

Person two: "jus-" (Person two is suddenly cut off by a little green man wearing a heavy grey robe.

Little Green Man: "There is no try, only do or not do."

Person one: "But I'm afraid of doing it wrong."

Little Green Man: "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hatred. Hatred leads to suffering. Suffering is the path to the Dark Side."
