there are a fair amount of houses, but trees fill in a lot of the space around them. [yes mostly wooded]. no large buildings, [kind of in country/suburbs] there is an airstrip nearby, small, but it may be a good idea to ask them if 2.4ghz wifi would interfere

yeah, i will, well, if i get it to work, definately, otherwise the idea may just die. the problem with projecting his 'net to the coffee shop is that people can find out that it's there [being its on/near a campus there's a good chance someone will look occasionally]. i think you can restrict access with the router used, but i'm not too sure. also to go long distances i'm [pretty] sure you need a directional antenna, vs an omni antenna. [meaning: directional-one direction, can open up to (exa) 10degrees up and down and 20degrees left to right; omni-all directions but not as strong]
