When I photoread, my usual method is photoflipping several times, reducing the total photoreading time to probably about a minute.

Today I think I noticed for the first time in about a year, that although my first is relatively easy to do without getting sidetracked, that my second pass and other passes usually screw me up a little because my eye tends to catch certain words.

I made the connection to this time I was doing the photoreading step for a book that my brother bought. I did my first pass, then in the middle of the next couple passes (PRing) my brother said, "Oh come on, you're not really reading that fast."

I thought to myself, "No, this is just the PRing step; in a minute, I'll start activating" but more in my head was, "Oh, shut up." And THEN, almost involuntarily, my purpose was, "Shut this kid up and do something to make him feel stupid."

So in the middle of the next couple passes I let my eyes shoot to certain words on different pages, picking up names, locations, and small events. This is all happening in the middle of me photoflipping, which, as some of you know, takes about 5 seconds to get from the front to back of a novel.

After about 4 passes of this (roughly 30 seconds), I said, "No, I still have to do the main activation step...right now I'm just gathering small details, like I know the main characters are Tom, Matt, Jill, and Jack, I know they start off as childhood friends, become soldiers, get that armor, then Jack dies, and I think I saw some part where Matt kills some guys trying to pick on him."

Now, this is basically ALL I knew at this point; I just said it in a way to make him think there was more, and I just didn't want to go through everything. But he's all like, "DEAR GOD. TEACH ME HOW YOU DO THAT!"

After that, I actually thought to myself, "Hey, that actually WAS kind of neat."

My hypothesis is that if I practice enough I can combine the photoreading step with a LOT of passes, and incorporate trigger words and really fast dipping within those passes, I could possibly know a great deal of the book in about 20 minutes.

Right now I think this would only apply to novels, and I'm not sure how great picking up literary devices or themes would be, but I'll give a shot throughout the course of the week and let you know how it turns out.

Any feedback or thoughts would be helpful.

i actually tried that in my ayn rand pr. it works although it is a bit distracting.

the only problem is if you get a book with lots of details, characters, or places like the hobbit or isaac asimov's foundation series or tolstoy.

but it's worth a try play with it and get back to us on this!

Great post. I've never photoflip. I've always gone at about the second a page rate.

At first I thought you were dipping on subsequent PR passes, and thought "Well why wouldn't you dip. You've already PR the material and you're just doing a very fast SR and dip". Then I double checked and you're saying that you're dipping on the second and third photoflip, but not the first.

So I'm wondering if you've actually done your PR step in your first photoflip. You've been at this for quite a while and have probably set down some good mental pathways for PWMS. Add to this that Pete has PhotoRead at ~630,000 wpm.

So doing some guesstimations (200 pages @ 500 wpp in 5 sec.) and we get that you were photofliping / PRing at only about twice the rate Pete is supposed to have PRed.

Who's to say what the actual maximum is. So why not photoflip to PR, and photoflip to SR and dip.

You go Razordu30.

I guess the bulk of what i'd be testing would be can someone consciously seek trigger words and dip at a photoflipping pace WHILE letting the other than conscious mind continue to familiarize itself with the text.

My theory is we get some conscious material in there, some other than conscious material in there, there's some similarities, BAM! neural pathways start shaking hands like old friends, popping champagne bottles or what have you.

Even so, I agree with you that I should probably do more non-dipping photoflip passes before I try the dipping stuff...it'll only take like 15 more seconds, and it'll probably be worth it.

Keeping my eye out for the test subject, though I'm eyeing that "Neverending Story" paperback I bought at a sale and never got to check out. "Neverending Story", eh? We'll just see about THAT.

So you're going to photoflip over and over until it gels? Lemme know if you're still able to enjoy the text, because it sounds more like a scavenger hunt than pleasure reading.

I did that exact thing with many books. Mostly to impress my friends. It's funny how no one in the family seems to really believe PhotoReading works.

Even during the first month of learning the system, I spent 6 minutes with a book, and somehow was able to answer every question by guessing 80% of it, and I answered it right.

If you combine hints and clues to the conscious, the subconscious will often be eager to fill in the gaps in a lot of ways.

OMG, the evil plot of the evil alliance of the Satanic Water Bottleing Company and the Really Nasty Garbage Removal Industry is working! NOOOOOO!! They have created an evil plot, to get people like me and you, to get hooked on the highly addictive drug, code-named H2O!! Their plan is so evil, they get people to spend a WHOLE DOLLAR OR MORE on a bottle of ORDINARY TAP WATER!! And not only that, but they want you to drink 8 OR MORE BOTTLES A DAY!! NOOOOOOOOO!! To make things even worse, The Really Nasty Garbage Removal Industry charges you to haul countless dozens of little plastic bottles to a GIANT HEAP, so it can POLLUTE THE ENVIRONMENT!! MUHAHAHAHA!! But I won't let the get away with it, I am instead gonna give in to the slightly less evil plot of the BRITA FILTER COMPANY, and get a $10 BRITA(or generic) PITCHER!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!

Yes, i DO have WAAAAY to much free time, that i should probably be spending either studying, or learning PR, but this was kinda fun
