Temporary post, I'm still not going to comment on things.

PRing today in class, I fell into deep sleep. This happens like everytime I PR. It was during band (shut it for those of you who will post some weird comments). Music score on one side, spanish vocab list on the other. Diverge eye, relaxed and looked at the page. I closed my eyes and immediately started to fall into deep sleep. Now I'm awake, it's strange. Anyone else get this?

Okay,

First, are you getting enough sleep? Or are you polyphasic sleeping?

Second, were you seeing images--or just falling asleep?

Last, maybe your brain overloaded (is it even possible )

Or maybe the info was incubating?

Oooo no... I lagged some sleep that night. But like when I PRed it made things worse or something. So my mind trigged my body to sleep to regain strength I guess. But it's weird, like one minute your awake with vigor, the next your dead tired and can't keep eyes open. I napped for the rest of the class period.

Info was only 1 page worth of vocab. I activated some because I PRed the list about 5-8times. PRed again to reinforce the info on my mind. But I dunno, anyone else get this kind of "effect"?

Maybe it was boring, LOL. Because when I PRed science things, mind is fully enageed and active. Incubation then I activate farely faster than regular reading. I dunno... weird man...

Another added factor, I just had lunch... Maybe food in stomach added to that effect.

Im willing to bet you arent first chair (what I would give to be able to fall asleep in band, the curse of greatness )

How early is your band class? I think it might have something to do with the fact that your eyes were relaxed (like in sleep)... probably not right. Music is also a good trigger for sleep so that might have been it...

More so the music and food in stomach. I dunno, this "tiredness" triggered after I PRed something REAL big, the Medical dictionary. That was 2000 some pages with fine print. Right after, I felt ULTRA tired and slept for 20mins.

I play a "girl's" instrument, have the pleasure of guessing. My love for music has stopped since I really don't have the urge to practice. Sitting here without a real desire to do well doesn't help that at all. Desire*talent=skill, I need to start up my desire, even if the lack of talent, desire can overcome what is weak.

ps-I think my brain wasn't use to working in a long time, LOL. Or maybe it's really helping my subconcious that just turns off my concious mind. PR brings me my desire back... My gratitude to Paul and Pete, Dana, whom ever the ideas came from, Zen, Chinese parabals...See you guys in a couple of weeks, I think more PR will help my mind back up and regain my strength. Until then.

I think it must be either:

a) You can and do get into the state easily, and when you finish, you end up in theta. In theta--no matter how much sleep you got--you feel ultra tired.

b) Your brain itself is exhausted from all the work/info

I used to be in marching band; I did it because I was trying to impress one of the colorguards.

I eventually won her over (hooray!).

I will take a guess at your instrument and say either flute or clarinet.

On your question, it is pretty odd that you fall asleep while trying to PR. The only solution I can come up with is that you need to get more sleep. It sounds pretty silly, but as a person with bad sleeping habits(Mastermind will attest to this) I know I will fall asleep almost anywhere if I'm tired and my conscious mind isn't occupied.

For example, I think one kid for a science project stayed up for something like 11 days playing video games. He could do it because his conscious mind was constantly occupied (if you get tired and need to stay up, try to keep adding 7 in your head over and over again, or multipling by 3; it works for some people).

If you're pretty awake but driving down a highway for a long stretch, your conscious mind can get tired, and a lot of people fall under "highway hypnosis", which happens because of the repetition of the lines on the asphalt, the straightness of the road, and the same, low humming noise of the car on the road.

With PRing we are using our other than conscious mind, and letting our conscious mind take a break. If you're tired, I suppose this could lead to sleep.

Just theorizing, mind you.

LOL, Colorguard. Yeah, there is this one hot colorguard in my band, but I'm not into band or all that at all. Flute is what I play. I thought Clarinet is fine for both, oOo well.

Are you hydrated? I know that if I do not get enough water PR makes me tired.
