With the whole deal with the blip-page and random dot steriograms, and my aversion to placing importance on it, I thought I'd share something that I find a bit better at practicing PhotoFocus - Where's Waldo books. Instead of scanning the whole page looking for the twirp, go into the "relax gazed" and look at the whole picture until you get a "tug" of where he is. Relaxed gaze + whole page + absorbing information = PhotoFocus. Once you find Waldo a few times, you won't need to worry about blips. You'll know that you're absorbing information when you have the relaxed gaze and are seeing the whole page.

Thanks for the tip. I never really thought of using "Where's Waldo" books to hone my 'blip' skills. I have always used the "X" four corners method. Thanks.

In the same vein, how do photoreaders find those mazes printed in magazines?

Similar experience: We have and I SPY calendar. Each month we get a new picture and a list of things to find. I've been using the "see the whole picture" and "let the mind find it" and not the eyes. It works great. I'm faster than the entire rest of the family and get the ones they can't find.

I decided to try being aware of the whole picture and let the mind show me where items were, when we were stuck finding the last few items in January. Since then I scan like for the easy ones, then switch to the full awareness method when the rate of findings decreases.

Thanks for the suggestion. I struggle with the blip page. I will totally do it.

I've done the same basic thing in the normal world. Most of the time, I'll hear a bird chirping in a tree near me, so I'll look, and there's nothing there. Then I go into PhotoFocus and locate the sucker in all the darkness and criss crossing of the leaves!
