Give it another shot and set the timer. Ask yourself if the author were sitting in front of you to talk about what is in his/her book what would you want to know from them. Then let yourself be guided to finding that information. Use the index and table of content (it's not cheating that's what they are there for). Build your knowledge about the book question after question. When the time is up stop.
Take a break and then decide if you want to know more. If you do do another activation pass. If not then you're done.
