You know, that's very true, too. Recently in my Spanish class, I was staring at the wall, thinking about the concept of selective thinking in relation to delusions, and was drawing a mind map of a few things I was thinking about, along with writing down some standard notes. The teacher called over to me, "Have you finished the workbook pages?"

They're due Wednesday.

"No."
"Are you going to finish them?"
"At home, yes," I told her. She looked at me with this huge glaring demeanor spread across her face, implying that I was lying.

"Don't look at me like that, I will do the work, just not right now," I assured her, and was really irritated she was looking at me like that.

"Well, then what are you going to do in the mean time? Just sit there?"

"No, I'm thinking."

This irritated her even more, and she went back to giving me that damn look again.

"About what?" she asked me. "I'm just curious?"

"Ya really wanna know?" I asked her, getting angry that she'd interrupted me.

"Yeah, I do," she said.
"Fine!"

I got up, and threw a sheet of paper onto her desk. It was some notes & writing talking about the relation of the prefrontal cortex area of the brain to lucid dreaming. She didn't understand a single word of it.

"...Where did you get this information?" she asked me, starting to not be quite so fed up with the fact that I wasn't working on Spanish.

"Books, people...places...I don't know, why?"

"What is it talking about?"

Then I went on for the next 30 minutes, teaching her about my longing for a lot of knowledge in psychology, talking about schizophrenics, common delusions, how some of them can take place, and my curiousity of the paranormal. In the end, all she had to say was something close to an apology, and that the workbook pages were due next class...

What does a kid do for hours when he's staring out the window? Do they really think he's thinking about nothing?
