Why lie? Unless you fear being challenged by someone that you are getting anything out of the book. "I'm photoreading this book", is my reply if anyone should ask. My mum did comment on my photoreading. After I flipped throught the pages of the book she said, "now I have to read that book and ask you questions about it to see if you got anything out of it", I just grinned and said "Yep".
I've never been bothered by anyone asking me in a book shop or library, they are usually too busy 'reading' their books to be notice and even if they do they usually make up their own minds about what you are up to.
