Hi,
I have been Photoreading for several months now, and have Photoread over 50 books.
I can:
1) enter the required Alpha state (i am an expereinced meditator)
2) get Photofocus (I see the blip page and all 4 corners of the book)
3) Have high motivation.

But the Photoreading stage just does not give me any improved comprehension, than if I just do the other stages and miss the Photoreading stage out altogether.

I have percevered with this on many books, but it is just not working for me, over and above what I would do for reading anyhow (I would always preview, super-read, mind-map anyhow)

It just is n't working

HELP - please

Do you use the tangerine technique when activating?

Do you set and stick to time limits for activation?

Do you have some well formed questions before you activate?

Are you clear on your purpose prior to activation?

How many activation passes do you do?

While it may not seem important to set a time limit for your activation passes if you have plenty of time, for enhancing your photoreading skills it is. It is important that you know your purpose for reading and activate with that purpose in mind and set a time limit (and stick to it) for your activation passes. Usually 20 to 30 minutes per pass. Allow your comprehension of the book to build in layers with these passes. This is much more effective than just one read through of the book.

Lets look at this ...

You have made progress, you can successfully complete all the steps up to and including the PR stage.

It would appear from your posting that activation for comprehension is your challenge. Follow Alexk suggestions and stick with it.

There is a simple test you can be aware of to see if all this PR stuff works and here it is ... if during your activation steps you have the sense that 'hey this stuff feels familiar' you have begun to succesfully Photoread. Take that success and build on it using the layering, questions, time and all suggested by AlexK.

Remember, perserverance leads you down the road to success.

well buddy, I'd say you are not working right for yourself.

Liberal arts person expect to gain knowledge of Quantum Physics in one 30min pass isn't enough.

What is your age?

50 fully activated books or just turned pages on 50books? That makes the different. Same subject or general knowledge reading? Specific purpose or going for the general jist of story?

I sat in Band one day, nothing to do. I picked up Candide by Voltaire. preview for 8mins, relaxed for 5min with Band music in the background. Then I PRed and activated it in 20mins. I didn't go for ALL the details, I know that Candide caused trouble to LOTs of people and himself in most of the main events that he tumbled into. That's what my purpose was, see the big picture, 20min is fine. Next time, I'll go for some funny remarks and/or details, who knows?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for you replies.

I do multiple activation passes. This is my normal way of reading/studying/learning.

I do not worry about, or go for 100% comprehension, knowing that knowledge & understanding are built up in layers.

The problem I have is not the motivation, preview, multiple activations etc, these work fine, it's that the PR stage adds nothing to this.

I always prepare my mind for activation (or indeed any reading). I maintain a "relaxed but alert" frame of mind, which includes maintaining focus on my "thinking cap" (tangerine)

I have percevered, but feel that I am actually getting behind with my reading goals.

Regards,
David
ps I have even used the Silva mind-control techniques to pre-program PR to work.

Skip the preview and do only a postview of about 8 minutes on average. During this time notice what you already know about the book and allow your mind to form questions. Seek answers to these questions in a 20 minute activation pass. If these question have been answered you only need to do further activation if your curiosity has been further aroused and more questions come to mind.

Dont worry if you dont get photoreading at first... it may take 50 books or 100 books, but one day you will have spontaneous activation where something in the book will come back to you.. often at the weirdest moment.

Trust me, It took me almost a year (and two tries) to get photoreading to work, but it was well worth it.

HAHA, time is relative. If you think more like a kid, you'll get it.

Often when one thinks of grandeur, it leads to illusions...

Just think your an idiot to the book, and see what you can dig out in, ooo.... 30min? Then go again! Relax is very good, nap some and return reading.

PRing part should make a GOOD impression if you CALM down, think about how your brain recalls, on images.. etc etc.. you PRing as input, then just ask some ?s and whateva. DON'T neglect pre/postviewing. Your concious mind will be VERY confused, and you will feel like the book is beating you up.

Anyhow, if things don't make sense, stop and read slower or take a break. When things don't make sense, your usually dehydrated.

The genealogy of this belief fascinates me, Chang, do you really think that most of the time it is dehydration causing lack of sensibility? In earlier posts you were only tentative on that one.
To BillyRawData: their advice seems to follow the standard spiel. This place sounds like an echo-box. Refer to other threads and my other posts regarding the efficacy of PRing in and of itself. Or, you could follow AlexK's advice and just Believe, Skywalker, and Use the Force of PRing, have Faith. To all y'all, don't react to that last semi-humorous statement unless you plan to say something substantial, you just look like more of an idiot when you repeat somebody elses spiel, as often the plagiarists of AlexK do.

KO - I love intelligent discourse. I hate yes-men. Challenge is good.

But, whereever your head is, I bet the sun isn't shining.

If you are going on to get your PhD, you've got to be halfway smart, which presents problems. Instead of analyzing PhotoReading, a process that is quite paradoxical, get into its experience. Prove it to yourself. Live it.

People come to this Forum for support and motivation. Honor that.

If you want to challenge people's thinking, do so. But in a way has has some good.

Challenge yourself. What would happen if in the upcoming semester you choose one class... And for that class you go to the library and PhotoRead 10 books a day on that topic. Spend only a minute or two on the first steps, and then PhotoRead. Activate only if you are really drawn to the book. It will blow you away.

===

BillyRD: in my early days I PhotoRead 10+ books a day for several months. That first year I did 1300-1500 books. The more I PhotoRead, the more bouts of spontaneous activation.

For books that you want to activate, activate until the book gels for you. See the article in the PhotoReading section of the website call "Works on all material," and read the 5-day PhotoReading test in the book for thoughts on activating over several days.

Good luck, and have fun.
