Usually you want to know something that the author wrote for a reason. That's your purpose your reason for reading.

To activate you form questions that you expect the book / text to be able to answer. You superread and dip for those answers or if you feel you want to know more but cannot frame the question then you would probably just rapid read.

Each activation pass you form new questions.
Generally I ask yourself some questions relating to my purpose prior to each pass.

"Have I met my orginal purposes?"
"Do I have a new purpose or goal in relation to this book?"
"Do I want to spend more time with this book? If so why and how much more time do I want to spend with this book?"
"Do I need more information from this book?"
"Are there any questions left unanswered?"
"With so many books available for me to read is this book worth spending any more of my time with?"
