You may listen to the words when you dip. While superreading you are still going too fast to consciously read and say everything you see.

That's a good part about photoreading... if you habitually talk to yourself (subvocalise) while you read you can still get through the text at least 3 times faster than with regular reading. When you dip you only read a bit and then move on. A bit being perhaps one sentence on a page, or one paragraph or one whole page in the whole book.

The idea is to keep yourself moving. There is no need to fight to stop talking to yourself while you read. It's just a matter of moving on. Not reading stuff slowly that you already know.

Work the system in the order it is given. You get there by trying it and seeing what happens when I do this and then try doing what Paul has explained to the best of your understanding.

Notice the experience and check the results.

As Paul says, there are no mistakes there are only learning experiences. The fastest way to get there is to make a start. Take it in chunks, step by step.

Go easy on yourself

If you have the English version of the Photoreading book (3rd edition) re-read the first 3 paragraphs on page 58 and the bullet points starting near the bottom of page 61 along with the first paragraph of page 62.

Then it's going to be a challenge for you to learn, until you do read the book. Please don't expect the forum members to rewrite the book for you it's available from LSC http://www.learningstrategies.com/PhotoReading/Book.html $16.95 and it might even be available in your local book store in your native language. It has already been translated to a number of languages.

Hey all !

My first post on these forums, so don't be too hard on me

On a related note to the parent thread, I was wondering if photoreading w/o activation could be of any help for, say, improving my understanding of "advanced engineering mathematics" prior to going to class...
I too am a newbie around here, and don't quite grasp all the subtleties of the system yet...

Will 'activation' happen by keywords the teacher might say in class? And are there any benefits to photoreading the material more than once (like twice a week for the duration of the class) ?

And, does any one have any tips on how to best PR math books containing many formulae?

Thanks

Cheers!

tych-
