You can learn from the book alone, so no need to buy the tapes unless you feel that they would help you better.
Some people learn faster when they hear someone telling them what to do next.
You do photoreading by doing the steps in sequence.
1 Prepare - get yourself ready for reading. Decided why you want to read. Follow the suggestions given in the book.
2 Preview - spend a bit of time getting familar with the book, layout, read a bit here and there to get a sense of the Authors style. Collect trigger words. Total time for a book about 8 minutes. Less for articles and reports of a few pages.
3 Photoread - do the steps advised in the book. Leave the book for 20 minutes or over night before going onto the next step.
4 Activate - This is the process of bring the information to your conscious mind. Using the technique of superreading and dipping. Ask yourself questions that you would like the author of the book to answer about the subject. Then you follow your intuition and scroll your eyes over the text where you think the author wrote the answer to that question. During this process you can be going forward and backward through the book. Do activation passes in 30 to 30 minute blocks. Till you feel that you have discovered everything the author has to say on the subject.
5 Rapid Read - Is going through the book from front to back as fast or as slow as you need for each particular part of the book (fast over text you've already activated or know; slower over text that you want to know about). Once you become skilled at activation for many books rapid reading is not required. It is often used instead of Activation on novels.
The best way to get to know photoreading is to use the 5 day test. I have been told that it has not been included in the Chinese version of the book?
Treat all your reading material as a book and use each of the steps in order. That's the best approach for all your reading material.
