You're talking about syntopic reading. It's explained in the photoreading book I suggest you follow those steps. You'll know your purpose will be something like 'to find useful information that helps me understand ..... better'.
You then photoread each of the books after a light preview (just enough to determine if you the book might have some useful information) You can preview them all before you start photoreading. Then just photoread 4 or 5 then take a break and photoread another 4 or 5 ... for however many books you have an interest in.
Then when it comes to activation allow yourself to be drawn to the books and pages to answer the question you formed in your mind ... do that with a couple of books. Remember to mind map all this.
