For someone new to photoreading, what would the appropriate material be? A whole book? A chapter? What if it has information you already know, or read, ie. a technical book I read 5 chapters of already and try PR on ch 6?
Would it help facilitate activation if you already know a lot about it so you have a good place to start thinking about and then work toward activating what you don't consciously know?

For the actual photoreading process the whole book is recommended. Appropriate material is a non fiction book that interest you. Something that you would like to know.

Photoread the whole book anyway. When activating technical books its is best to treat each page as a chapter. Still photoread a chapter or two before and a chapter or two after the chapter you wish to activate.

Yes, activation is a lot easier on books that contain information you already have some knowledge of. Books or text that contains information that is totally new to you will naturally take a bit longer to activate. They usually take longer to regular read too.

I think the best kind of material to begin with, which is not only easy, fast, and a little more interesting, are books that are actually laid out sort of like how Paul has done the PhotoReading, and Natural Brilliance books. Nonfiction books with roughly 170-250 pages, subtitles within the chapters, maybe some tidbits of facts on the side margins, and a few pictures here and there explaining the concepts. To this day, I've found that when a book is formatted this way, it's very easy to activate, and absorb the information in.

Books like this that I've had the experience of activating that are sort of formatted in this style are The Einstein Factor(very good book, I might add), The Gift of Dyslexia, the Mind Map Book, Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting:The Astonishing Power of Feelings, Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, The Mind's Eye(this one's a little more heavy, lengthy, and intellectual), and if you haven't even activated or PRed Natural Brilliance yet, I'd recommend that book also.

Those are just a few of my specific recommendations. I'd give more, but money is being collected right now, and I've run out of good stuff to read. Poor folks, I have..."Why do you have to go through them all in one day?!"
