Hey all,
I am very interested in this new way to process info faster. I just aquired the whole mind system photoreading book and i am trying to PR my first few books. I have a question about photofocusing...I am able to see the blip but i am not sure how big the blip should be (width), my head starts to hurt after a while, maybe i am crossing my eyes or something. should i always have a blip in focus to be able to visualize both pages? should i photofocus each page individually or both at once? sorry i am a bit ignorant about using the proper methods thanks for your help in advance. i have an open mind and i am willing to try whatever works.

Whatever is comfortable is ok for the width of the blip. Most say theirs is about an inch or 2 (2 to 5cm).

You can just soften your gaze and notice the pattern of white on the page if holding the blip page becomes a strain. Yes you might be crossing your eyes. You can check with a stereogram (3D image) If the pictures cave in like a hole then you are crossing your eyes.

Take in both pages at once. On page 48 next to the Einstein jogging... no blip no problem explains an easy way to get started if the blip page and taking in both pages at once is a problem.

Have fun with it and by all means post any questions you might have about the steps. That's how we learn, by asking questions.

HI! I'm far from being a PR expert but I can tell you what has worked for me so far.

If you REALLY want to be able to perfect the blip page method, then get on the internet and look up "stereograms" on google. Practice seeing the 3-D images. Notice what your eyes do and how they focus differently to see the 3-D images...Practice a lot and soon you will be able to get the blip page easily..I couldn't do it at first, but after some practice with the stereograms, I can read a whole book with the blip now. At first, I crossed my eyes which causes the 3-D images to be inverted (poke inward) instead of poke outward. The photofocus state is not crossing your eyes...Practicing with the stereograms will help you.

When PR'ing, don't think to yourself, "Am I seeing the page right? Is this how you do it? Is that the right blip? etc..." Get into your focused state and just flow with it. Don't be in a hurry..Keep it steady and fluid. Use the chant prescribed in the book or another one you are comfortable with to keep you focus away from the "AM I DOING IT RIGHT?" syndrome..Just relax and keep it smoothe.

When activating, I prefer the 90 minute session model over the 5 day plan. I get much more focused and "zoned in" while doing the 3-30 minute passes for a 90 minutes session. You can find this model on page 86 of "The PhotoReading Whole Mind System book". It worked a lot better for me than the 5 day plan did.

That's all I got for now...Keep practicingg and good luck...

JD

thanks for your response...i managed to photoread a simple book on martial arts using all the methods given in the book. however i dont think i comprehend to everything i just took into my brain...
Does comprehension come when you do the rapid/super reading and skittering techniques? I am still not sure how i am able to understand something that i cannot fully see and or recognize. I am looking past(through) the book i am reading and trying to visualize the both pages at once, is this the right way to do it? I will be truly amazed if this actually works. Also i would like to know if it is possible to photoread complex novels like those of Ayn Rand and still be able to comprehend the premise of the book?? thanks again

Conscious comprehension comes through activation. By asking questions and then using superreading & dipping for for the answers.

People generally read novels for enjoyment and for those the preferred approach is Photoread and then straight to rapid reading. Yes you will have conscious comprehension of the books through activation and rapid reading.

Yes looking through the book is the way it works. What you are doing is giving the information to your other than conscious mind to process the text/information prior to looking for conscious comprehension of the text. Because the information is already in the other than conscious mind we find we can have a faster conscious comprehension of the text/information as a result.

hey thanks for informing me some more. so basically activation is a fancy word for a fast process of regular reading (dipping and rapid reading) in order to gain a slight comprehension. for me it seems that the only way to understand what i am trying to read is but actually reading with the rapidread and skittering methods, however i only pick up bits of information. How long should the activation process be, by this i mean how long should i rapid read, dip, and skitter. as a skeptical beginner it seems it would be more efficient to just read a book quickly from start to finish. i am trying to develop my skill as a PRer but i think it will take some time but i think it is worth the effort. When i try to photoread i am still conscious, how am i supposed to have an other than conscious mind even when i turn pages and i am aware of what is going on, it seems there is a contradiction between not being conscious and aware at the same time. thanks for your help

OK..

1)YES! Activation is a combination of study and learning tools that allow you to quickly and efficiently FLY through the text and gather the important information that relates to your purpose for reading the book.

In "The PhotoReading Whole Mind System" book, on page 86, there is a model for activation that has worked great for me. It is the 90 minute session model. It is basically like this:

90 MINUTE SESSION MODEL:

STEP 1: 3-5 minutes:State your purpose, enter ideal state of mind. Repeat affirmations.

STEP 2: 20 minutes: Preview briefly and then photoread and activate. Use any of the skills you desire for the activation. (super reading and dipping, skittering, etc.) Try not to have any distractions.

STEP 3: 5 minute break. Get away from your work area and get release the material from your mind. Just get away from it all completely allowing what you have just learned to incubate and process in your mind.

- REPEAT STEPS 1-3 2 more times for a total of 90 minutes. After 90 minutes, take at least a 15 minute break and then you can do the entire cycle again, or if you find that you have achieved your purpose already, then you are DONE!!

This model has worked great for me personally. I prefer it over the 5 day plan because it helps me focus in on the material more.

Your question of whether it would be quicker just to rapid read the book from start to finish and skip the whole photoreading step has been considered by everyone at some point in their PhotoReading experience I'm sure. The answer is quite simple: "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten!" In other words, you've read books that way your whole life, try something new and see if it works. Stay with it and find ways to shape the system to your desires for reading. It begins to come into place quite nicely with time..

Good luck!

For starters, follow his model. Then after you learnt the steps, follow yourself.

90min is fine, use the ones in the book, the 5 day plan.

After you activated a few books, light or heavy in content, give yourself a break.

Setup a new personalize plan, then your good as new.

Say the chant to keep the conscious mind occupied and remember to turn the pages with a steady rhythm. This helps to keep you in the photofocus state. Trust the process. Trust is stronger than doubt.

PhotoFocus allows your conscious mind to not interfere, where as your subconscious is seeing EVERYTHING that is in front of you during that time. It's not missing a single detail, and as you're flipping through pages, your mind is seeing it, reading it, and thinking about it without you even being aware of it. The subconscious can process up to 20,000 pieces of information at once. That means that while your little conscious is looking at a single thing - the center crease, your subconscious is looking at everything else. Once it enters your subconscious, is practically directly translated to long term memory.

From here, when you consciously activate the material, it accelerates the process by simply pulling the information in your subconscious out and bringing it to a conscious level. Questions?
