I am currently studying on a distance learning course in computer networking.I have 1 years worth of work to do but unfortunately I have 5 months to do it in.This is entirely my own fault.
Anyway I would like examples of anyone who has done some kind of course in half the time due to photoreading.I just need reassurance and proof that it's been done.
I believe in photoreading but I'd like to hear members own stories of brilliant results.

I recently did an intensive course. 6 Weeks full time. I understand that this course is usually 3 years part time or one year full time.

For the course I photoread the course material as it was handed out. Had the advantage of photoreading a couple of book on the side (something my classmates couldn't consider because they were busy with the material already to hand.)

By the the 4th week I was still just in time with the class (or so I thought). I have to admit to 'goofing off' during class I spent an hour or 2 writing my assignment as for home work I did one night work... redoing the assignment doc. For the first 2 weeks homework was impossible anyway (homework was 'read the stuff') I wasn't home until 11pm each night since I was helping my brother out for the wedding. I arrived an hour or 2 late more than 2 times and was absent from class 3 times (jumping hoops for the govenment). During class my goofing off consisted of stuff like designing, chatting with others, rescuing data on a classmates computer and waiting for the instructor to become available so that I could continue with what was required next.

Before leaving one evening he suggested an area of my plan that could use polishing. So I selected 9 books and took them to class with me the next day. Photoread the books and drew a mind map of the ideas and wrote it all up in the report. (the mind map helped me to grab the ideas so that I can include them in my report). Was done in an hour with more information ideas than was available in the course manual.

Oh at the point where I thought I was just scraping through... I offered to burn a copy of my draft for my instructor he said... "don't worry about it." I said, "but I thought the first draft is due today?" He said, "nah, it's to push the others a bit. Your work is well up in front. That's why I've been concentrating on helping the others." (And I thought I was behind because I didn't seem to have a clue what I was supposed to be doing). My assignment was completed early by 3 days. (I delayed printing it for 2 days and handed it in 3 days early instead. The report did it's job.

The point is it's more about attitude. If I wasn't on track the instructors would have pushed more (it was an intensive course afterall). I didn't worry about doing it right. I just got out of my own way and allowed my mind to bring up the best I could produce. No effort, just get out of the way and allow it to happen. Took it as it came. A couple of times when it didn't seem to be going right, I figured I got nothing to lose so do it anyway and do it badly if necessary... sort of "damned the torpedos... full steam ahead" just do it.

I did a number of courses by distance learning back in the 80's I had trouble completing the courses due to heavy work commitments. I managed about 6 to 10 assignments in 2 years (alotted time). I negotiated a 6 month extention and completed the other 20+ assignments on time. I didn't have photoreading to help me then. Just the fact that I wanted to complete what I had started and I had made a commitment to myself.

flex22,

While getting inspired by others is a great thing, don't wait for it. You got nothing to lose, just give it your best shot from here on in. Under Murphys law every task expands to fill the time alotted to it. Chances are you could have completed the course in 5 months already, well now is your opportunity to compress it to 5 months. If you've completed almost all of it toward the end of the 5 months chances are you are going to make it. The only way you can really be sure is...'just do it'. With or without photoreading... you can only find out what is possible or impossible for you by running the race yourself.

Thanks Alex, that was the kind of response I was after.I suppose, like you say, I need to get out of the way more and see what happens.I think at the moment I'm looking all the time waiting for it to happen and getting annoyed if I don't see instane results.I'm going to really change my attitude and really let go and see what happens.I actually have 10 months left, not 5 like I sai(sorry, my error), however I'm still quite far behind.
I'm also going to do what Youngprer said and just change how I feel.I've kind of gone off the rails recently and been stressing out.I'm going to see what happens and not stress at all, no matter what happens and then just see what happens, afterall it's up to me how I feel, I just have to get in control of my feelings as well as let my inner mind do the work.

Thanks a lot for your advice!

My experience with controlling feeling is like trying to stop a wave with a bucket of sand.

It's a lot easier saying... well that's the way I feel about that. Now if I am going to see the results I desire I have to find a way of getting there with those feeling.

Have you ever visualised your feelings as an entity that you're fighting? In an old castle perhaps, fencing foils out, knocking over tables, cutting candles swinging from drapes as you fight your foe (your feelings). Kind of wasting your time cause the battle never seems to end (it's for show afterall). What would happen if the hero (you) said to your enermy (your feelings), "Bugger this I'm going to the zoo with the kids today you if you want come along get changed I'm not taking you like that otherwise we can continue this battle later when I have time for it."?

Good luck with your studies.
Alex

flex22, not stories of my own. I know Dan uses PWMS everyday to great success. I suspect it just allows him to get what needs to be done in the time he has.

The job will expand to use all the time, if you allow it.

I like the idea of layer approach to things. Before I'd heard of activation in layers, I'd been told by a person that he was always ready for a 3 min, a 30 min., or a 3 hour presentation on himself or his current work area. I'd noticed the work expanding to fill the time law before, and have applied the 3 min., 30 min., and 3 hour approach to work. And I try to be aware of the phrase "good enough", since my personal tendency to try for perfection. And perfect come in dimishing returns on the resources you commit. So be aware of what is good enough.

bla bla bla... the idea is try the system, and try layering. If you had to write the exam on the course in a hour, but didn't know what the comprehension level for passing was (it may be only 2%, you don't know what is good enough until you've gotten through), then PR is the best tool to have in preparing. Use the system and all the other great stuff Alexk always says.

Good luck.

Alexk, when you started talking about changing feelings I have to agree it is easier said than done. Then when you started talking about battling your feelings I was getting worried. However, you came around to what I've found to be the best approach. Don't try and eliminate the current feelings, travel towards the desired feelings. Visualize where you want to be and you'll get there faster and easier than if you spend your time looking at where you don't want to be.

(This is a little reminder I needed right now. Thanks for helping get where I needed to be.)

Good luck all,
Iam2

I'm doing a distance course right now that I started without having the photoread system but now I'm finishing it using the system. I found out about PR'ing half way through and finished my last 4 courses using the system. I have to say...WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I've spent an average of about 2 hrs. on each course and averaged an 80% on all my exams. I feel a stronger grasp of the material than I did before. Before, I would study and then forget it all as soon as the test was over. Now, I study less, do great on the exam, and still retain more information for future use.

When I began photoreading, I jumped right in for the ultimate test. I just went by the book (Photoreading Whole Mind System) and jumped right into my course work. It took me a couple of tries to really see results in my activation and obviouslt I'm still working on it, but it has made a huge difference in my work and completion time.

I can do a whole course including: knowing the text, understanding the material, and passing the exam, at a relaxed pace in just 2 or 3 days. If I wanted to really hurry I could it in one day.

Hope this story encourages you to just jump in and watch it work!

JD

That's exactly the stories I was looking for, real stories of real success.
As PR is pretty underground I've never heard anyone mention it before either on my course's website or just in everyday life.I wouldn't be surprised if I was the only person on my course doing PR, so I hope to see what difference it makes to me.I'll concentrate on my own goals from now on and not compare myself to everyone else.I look forward to making fast progress. Thanks people!
