What do you want the information for? By answering that question, your question answers itself.
If you're just interested in learning everything for a verbatim test on a short section, then you would be better off just rapid reading. However, most of us only need to use the information in a certain way. If that is the case, then you don't really need "everything", but only what you want to use. In this case, superreading and dipping would generally be a better idea. If the material you want to cover is a long, then again superreading and dipping is recommended.
Even if you do want "everything", I suggest you make it clear to yourself exactly what you mean by that. Will you know "everything" when you can answer the questions in a test? To discuss the subject intelligently? To be able to formulate a thesis? To be able to astound the world's expert on the subject?
