Definately, start with the five-day program. This builds the skills with very low pressure put on one's self. After all, five days is a long time to spend with any one book, and you're doing multiple activation passes. Then, for the next month, read ten books of 200 pages or less, spending two days per book (one to preview and PhotoRead, one to activate and mind-map). This will build skill, self-confidence, and a mean knowledge base. It is important to mind-map every book at this time. After that, if you find yourself enjoying the process, PhotoReading 3-10 books per day and manually activating at least one a week will enhance the spontanious activation mechanisms.
At any time during this process, feel free to use Direct Learning. It isn't as hard as it may seem, it's quite easy in fact.
