Yes by me they seem ghost like sometimes too. To check if you're crossing your eyes have a look at some stereograms.

If viewing them on screen is difficult print some out.

Number one rule for photoreading... play with it. Use a relaxed gaze and if you cannot see the blip page use the X technique. It works just as well and using that consistently you'll probably gain a steady blip page a lot sooner. In fact if you find yourself crossing your eyes, I recommend you leave the blip page for a while and concentrate on just relaxing your gaze so that you have a soft focus with a broad peripheral vision so that you can notice both pages at once.
