wide field of vision is an asset. I've tried speed-reading, and became very fustrated with the low degree of comprehension I received. True, this wasn't after much practice, but at the time I was going to school and didn't want to spend lots of time learning something, even if it may have saved time in the future. After the third lesson from the speed reading book I, I just gave up.
I like the "instant results" of PhotoReading. I don't know if it's superior teaching methods (I did get the Home Study course), or the simplicity of the techniques, but I find the PhotoReading Whole Mind System to be fun and natural.
One idea that did strike many on this forum as admirable, and something I do endorse as a worthwhile expense of time, is using direct learning to acquire speed reading methods. That way, you get many of the advantages of speed-reading without having to deal with a large chunk of time devoted to "buckling down."
I may do this myself, in time.
I've recently gone from the 1/3 the time to the 1/5 the time catagory. I noticed I'm activating books MUCH faster and more completely. I think part of this may have been using New Behavior Generator to install Natural Brilliance. The actual "jump" came after a nightmare I had...
In the dream, I was looking for a job, and I was interviewed by a law firm to be a paralegal. The woman interviewing me noticed I had PhotoReading listed as one of my skills. She asked me lots of questions about how it worked, etc. The interview ended with her saying, "I'm quite impressed, and I think I will hire Mister Scheele." Turns out I wasn't the only PhotoReader who wanted the job! The dream was one that created/broke oscilations by taking me right to the edge of my stop signs - envy and awe as the range of behaviors - and slammed me into a wider range. I had the dream after listening to Side A of the Natural Brilliance Generator, and the breakthrough in reading speeds came after listening to Side B of the same upon awakening.
And, I wasn't even TRYING to read faster. It's just that dealing with my current stuck situation, the ability to read faster would be helpful.
