For textbooks. If the instructor does not say "read this before the next class" you can photoread the textbook and allow the class be the activation.

If you are required to have read the information before the class. Photoread it. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes then use the activation techniques on each chapter. Treat each chapter as if it is a book of it's own. So pull some trigger words from each chapter. Go over it a number of times with superreading and dipping so that your understanding builds as you answer the questions you formed from your trigger words.
