My parents bought me the course for my birthday and I finished the course. I am however not able to do the full process on my own to where I feel that if I want to read a book, I will have understood it after I have photoread it.
My process for photo reading an academic book
I prepare by thinking of the orange.
I relax and get into a quiet area.
I read the first paragraph and start looking for key words on about every page, writing them down.
I then set a goal, and want to know all I can about this topic and usually it is the entire book.
After that I try to photoread but I have no idea if I am doing it right. I understand the blip between the fingers, however I don't see a blip in the pages I wish I knew what to look for but otherwise I try and look at the white spots in the page, and form an X.
I tried to look up the stereograms (magic eye) and see them, I can see most of them but that still doesn't tell me if I am photoreading correctly.
After I photo read I may wait an hour or not and then I move into superreading and dipping.
I feel like I need a timer to beep every 15 or so seconds because I stay on the page much longer than that sometimes because there is so much info that I think I am missing it all.
After that I try to make somekind of map, but I don't remember much, only what I superread, but not much unless during that process, I normal read the book.
After that I feel like I need to read the book normally so that I will know something because I probably have class tomorrow and I have to know what is going on in class so I must understand the material.
Now not only do I have a lot of material to read, but I want to read the newspapers and other journals every day, if I understood this process and was able to do it immediately and effectively I would have achieved my goal.
