Hi,

I've been wondering how should activation really feel like. After photoreading something I feel a strange "familiarity" with the text, and when I start going over with super-reading and dipping or skittering, it seems as though the information grabs onto something invisible inside your mind, like a track or something. Is this anything like a true activation experience should feel like?

phobos,

I know what you mean. I have been getting very much the same feelings as I have been go over books that I have photoread.

In one case I photoread a booklet that was a transcript from a set of tapes by Earl Nightingale. I did this before listening to the tapes. When I listened to the tapes I kept getting intense feelings of deja-vu, except that they weren't feelings that I had read it before, but that I had heard it before, which made it seem even more odd.

I would like to find more books or programs on tape that come with books, or that have books I can find so that I can photoread the books before listening to the tapes during the workday. I am trying this right now with a course on basic Latin.

There is no wrong feeling. Everyone will experience something different. Visual people can notice the word sort of glow or look brigther. Other can hear page numbers that they should look at. Tingling in different parts of the body, even feelings of warmth.

Everyone will find their own cues.

Learner,

No, I don't mean that you need to be using books on tape to have success with photoreading. I just happened to have some lecture programs on tape that also have everything that is said on the tape in a booklet that comes with the program.

I photoread the booklet and then listened to the program to activate the material. The way the activation occurred, was that at the beginning of some of the tapes, I felt as the though I had "heard" it before, but I had only photoread the material.

There are many ways to activate the material, from just relaxing and forgetting about what you have photoread for a while, to direct learning activation - photoreading books on a sport and then simply continuing to do the sport to activate what you photoread.

I recall a story from Pete Bissonette who said that he photoread some physics books and then, while he was watching a football game on tv, it spontaneously activated and he saw a 3D representation of the information floating in front of his eyes. So, it can activate in many ways and you just have to stay with it and play with it.

Wow, this thing certainly paid off. I got full points in the test from the book. Now I'm intrested in doing that again.
Anyone have ideas what I might be doing wrong since I haven't been able to do this on any other book? The dipping part on this book just went without worries, I got clear cues where to dip. The other books that I've tried activating just don't seem to gather up anything like this one did.

Take a bit of time to look at the style and structure of the book that you were successful with and then compare that with the others. What you intuitively resonated with in that book is probably lacking in the others. However by noticing the differences, (language pattern, Layout, plain English approach, short concises sentences etc,) will all have an influence in how you understand something. Bt noticing what you liked in the first book, you can look for those features in successive books.

Then you may also realise that while you may be doing everything exactly the same the difference is... the book has a different author and therefore a different personality. Just like you cannot expect all your friends and acquaintances to react the same way to everything that you say or do. Nor do you hold the same expectations of each of them. The same really goes for books.

Remember books are a reflection of a person, someone with a personality that you may or may not like but a person with a point of view.

Well, the only difference in style to my other schoolbooks seems to be that it approaches the subject with a humorous approach. There's more personality in this book than in my other schoolbooks.

I also tried to reactivate this book but didn't feel anything and it just didn't ring a bell like it did before. Activating the book became a forced attempt.

I'm a bit out of clues here. It's frustrating to get it working once and then have it totally stop working on subjacent attemps.

Any help would be most appreciated.

The harder you look for 'that same experience' the more elusive it becomes. Nothing is ever quite the same after the first time you experienced it. Like a ride on a roller coaster, first time gives you one heck of rush but afterwards it's not quite the same... still exciting but somehow different.

Expect each activation to be a unique experience. You will have elations that are better than the one you already had but looking for only that experience shuts you down on the other feedback you're getting.

Be playful.

Layer it.

If I may take and add from Alex's example of meeting people.

In astrology you have three main signs. An ascendant, a star, and a moon sign.

Your ascendant is your outer shell. If you ascendant is a very different sign as your moon sign, as mine is (ascendant Virgo, moon Aries) then you will know that people who know you in a shallow, outward sense, don't know you at all.

Imagine if someone saw you like a book and only saw your ascendant, didn't bother to get to know your moon sign, the real you, the element that makes you who you are.

I find this happens a lot to me.So I treat the book the same. You can't go straight to the heart of the book, you have to egt to know it, delve deeper, get past the superficials, the outward face, get to know the real book, what it's about, what it can share and teach you.

It boils down to the old anology "don't judge a book by it's cover"

Say hello to the book, greet it, see what it's about, have a conversation with it.Suss it out, like you would a new acquatence, then gradually get to know it.

This takes time, but you'll know when it's worth delving deeper.
