I love good fiction.
Good fiction can be more engaging and bring more profound insights than instructional non-fiction.
The catch is finding good fiction, eh?
No offense intended, but if something has to capture and hold your attention from the start in order for you to maintain interest, then your patience or you attention span is short. While there are probably a few movies or books that would meet your requirement, sometimes giving the author (or director) sometime to frame the story allows it to be deeper later on.
And then sometimes it's just crap. That's how it goes.
Just think that discounting fiction in its entirety is like men discounting the value of women in the workforce, or whites discounting blacks, etc. You deprive yourself of the ideas and resources of how many people?
Give me a Chuck Palaniuk novel anyday.
