There's nothing wrong with not liking fiction. The problem with the arguement that discounting fiction is like men discounting women in the workforce. Is that is for one exaggerated, and two fiction is unrealistic which would be more like an analogy of "people that are qualified in the workforce discounting those who are underqualified in the workforce". Anyway, besides a few goosebumps books, I've never read anything fiction books on my own since elementary school. If I did, it was for school, and I hated it. To me I think anyone could be a fiction author, because all you have to do is think of an underlying plot and make up stuff. Hate to be negative about it, but I have a lot of problems with fiction. People say it 'expands your creativity' which I think is good if you're a little kid but once you get to the point where you know what's possible or not, and what's illogical or not, it would be no suprise that you would lose interest. Besides all of the fictional books I've read always try to set up a 'theme' from which to learn by, and I think they go a long way to make a point for one, but also it's always stuff you've heard throughout your life anyway. I've discovered I can be really creative without reading anything in fact, because I'm a writer. But everyone's equally entitled to their opinion. To me it's more of what you like, chocolate or vanilla ice cream?
