Hi Jonah,
The Tangerine Technique was no great problem. A bit different than what I am used to. I did find that holding the imaginary tangerine in my hand, feeling the weight of it and then passing it to my other hand did help. So that when I placed it on my head I could imagine the weight and place my attention there.
We all visualise to some extent. If I asked you what colour (UK spelling) your front door was? You would be able to tell me. Then I would say: Which side is the handle on? And you would certainly answer.
You can visualise. Play with this technique and see if it will help you.
Open your book as usual and close your eyes in preparation for photoreading. Now, imagine yourself walking into the room and seeing that other you, sitting there, just as you are, eyes closed, with the book open.
Make your way over to that other you sitting there and take a peak over one shoulder, to see the book, not in any great detail, just know that you know it is there. Then slide that other you into the "tangerine spot", settle there for a moment or two and then open your eyes with new, soft focus and greater awareness of the whole page.
Let me know how well you did. And play with it in a relaxed playful mood.
