I am using Awakened Mind company's Focus CD. This Focus CD can take us into the alpha state. Seems to me that the processes of training us to get into alpha state by ourselves is significantly made easier if we can just use the Focus CD.

Would you recommend doing the photoreading session while using the Focus CD? Or would you recommend not using it?

Nope I wouldn't recommend it.

1 because it creates an unnecessary anchor and probably slows the progress towards becoming an independant photoreader.

2. Photoreading is not an alpha state, to try and hold the mind there whilst photoreading will interfer with the process.

The mind finds the right state quickly on it's own if you just follow the steps.

Some may disagree with you. not5150, if you visit his website and read his take on photoreading, used the "Quietude" cd that comes with the holosync program from Centerpointe with great results. This cd puts and hold you in an alpha state for about thirty minutes. Just my input.

Also another big proponent of using the Quietude cd while photoreading, eventho she doesn't post here anymore was Margaret.

for activation perhaps.

When placed on an IBVA it is shown that the brainwave pattern of the photoreader is high theta and low beta with a distinct absence of alpha waves. So during the photoreading phase you'd be interferring with the photoreading process if your mind allows itself to be entrained by the CD.

Fortunately like I said the brain knows the correct pattern and will ignore outside interference in most cases. It may just make it more difficult for the beginner to find the right pattern by trying to rely on false entrainment.

So, if what you are saying is true, then, what is the big deal, whoopla, as they say, about getting into the accelerated learning state which is alpha prior to photoreading and that includes the 4 3 2 1 technique? So, basically the way you put it, throw away any technique that brings on the alpha state, just open up a book and get going!!!!!!

I don't use the 4321 technique because I had already learned a technique called Mindscape which is similar to the Silva Mind system. Basically, I visualize and say the names of the colors Red, Orange,... Violet, invoke all 5 senses in the "passive scene" (a calming beach setting for me) and ascend seven steps to enter my "Workshop." It's a metaphorical place created by your mind's eye. By the time I have entered my Workshop, the techniques should have put me in a deep alpha state.

I use this almost always now with PhotoReading, for both the PhotoFocus and the activation steps. I find that it does help me to relax and focus my mind on the task at hand, and to get closer to that wonderful "flow" state. So I am a little confused here. Do you think my technique is still a good thing to use, but that when PhotoReading, my mind will just automatically shift from alpha to the theta/beta brainwave state ideal for the PhotoFocus? Can anyone explain why PhotoFocus might put the brain in high beta, which sounds more like a chaotic state of mind? I almost always feel more relaxed during and after PhotoReading, so relaxation must be more complicated than the frequencies of one's brainwaves.

Enlighten me.

You now also see the problem that I have with Alex K statement. When I read her post I just knew it was going to open up a whole new can of worms and the pot shots are just starting to come in. I wouldn't have made that statement

I've even used the quietude cd while photoreading and activating with great results in the early days of photoreading. Thanks not5150 for that tibbit of information. I use quietude every now and then and can photoread and activate either or and not have it becoming a crutch.

Good Luck with this one Alex K. I for one like many others don't own an IBVA and up until this point never knew what it was or even existed and really don't care about the research, findings or technical in's and out's. photoreading has been working for us based on the accelerated learning state aka "the alpha state" and you can't tell me any different.
