think (I'm not 100% sure) that what is confusing you is that the "wires" to left and right switch near the top of your spinal cord. Thus, you would be correct if you were
feeling the information with your right hand (->left brain). But I think that maybe because the ears are in the head, each has a direct connection to the brain without any crossover. Hope this helps and that I'm not just making it up :-)

To me that doesn't make sense because when you hear something from the left ear for example, it DOES NOT GET SENT TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN. When you HEAR something from the left ear, the message gets sent to the left side of the brain and visa versa. ITS NOT THE OPPOSITE like most other split-brain functions like touching and seeing. (according to a recent chat with a professor)
