Hi everyone,
I am now ready to pursue this skill systematically.
I have PR-ed and activated the photoreading book, have perused the forum archives, asked a couple of questions... I am very excited!
I feel that I have a good idea of what this is (as well as what this is not
). I also know why I am doing this and what i want to get out of it - a pretty good place to start, I guess *lol*
I wish to ask for one piece of advice before launch:
Will somebody help me choose books and reading material?
I tend to migrate towards subjects that are inherently difficult, where reading is not enough - the heavy maths and physics, or computers. I have decided that though I will photoread and activate such texts, I wish to use a lighter type of reading material to teach myself the actual system.
My problem lies in that I don't have access to any of the "half-science, popular, part factual, interesting for various reasons" types of books... downside of living in a foreign country a few hundred kilometres north of the polar circle - gets a bit isolated
The good news is that there is a university here, with a huge (mostly science and littrachaw) library, so if I can just figure out a good place to start, a good reading strategy that is interesting and still light enough to not require doing eight hours of problems to understand each chapter... well then I am on a role!
Am I making any sense?
I have tried to photoread my collection of books at home, but it kind of defeats the purpose, since I've read them all before. The newspapers are boring beyond belief (raindeer hit by volvo - volvo needs repairs; Mr Anderson retires after 57 years as locksmith; snow-mobile sales up 7%), so I am left with dictionaries (french-chinese, english-swedish, english-chinese, english-english, norwegian-german), maths texts (linear algebra, differential equations), mechanics (dynamics and statics), my mums texts on aromatherapy (which I am afraid I cannot muster much enthusiasm for), and anything I can pike from the university library.
Any suggestions? Tips? (I'm not really expecting someone to "solve my problems" - just kind of hoping for a bit of brainstorming that will help me decide on a good strategy).
Best regards,
Kosmik
