When a dream fades for me, its just everything pretty much going black, and me becoming consious of my physical body. Also I have done the spinning techniques a few times. Everytime I tried it I have had a false awakening, and I just went back to sleep, in my dreams.
My advice for anybody who wants to start having lucid dreams is 1) start recording your dreams every night. The more you do this the easeir it will be for you to recall your dreams, and notice dream signs when you are in your dream.
2)Try about 30 times a day to ask yourself if you are dreaming. Once you build this habit of trully asking yourself if you are dreaming you will do it in your dream, just like a smoker will often smoke in his dream. (One good way to test is to look at palm and notice the lines, often in dreams the line will not be there or will be unstable)
If you just do these two things, before you know it you will have an Lucid Dream.
