Yes there is a problem, by not writing down your 20 to 25 trigger words you moved yourself into being a passive reader. This is particularly important if you seriously want to activate your book.

[quote]After PRing it straight and upside down from backwards,I glanced through the TOC once agin to help in further assimailation.

About 7 minutes on a postview glancing through the book not just the TOC would have been beneficial here. Any questions you already had you would hva written them down. Merely glancing at the TOC again indicates you were taking passive approach.

Then I went on to sleep and reviewed the PRWMS book about activation next morning and went on to activate it as per the instructions in book.

Like in the five day test?

Firstly I read the Summary of each chapter & then the questions given on exercises but no feeling whatsoever came to my mind and I was completely desp & disappointed.

What happened to the mind map from your activation and why do I get the impression you only looked at the summaries before looking at the questions? Why didn't you take the questions and do further activation with them check out in the text where the answers lie and create a mind map.

When activation seems to fail it usually means you're cutting yourself short and need another activation pass or two.

Please help me guys since my board exams are starting from Mar 1 onwards & have five subjects(Eng,Math,Physics,Chem,Comp.science(mainly C++).Any suggestions on it are very welcomed.Including effective study strategies.

Photoread all your textbooks, you may photoread them more than once in fact since you're still getting acquainted with photoreading photoread your textbooks daily for a couple of weeks.

Remember that class discussion can help to activate the text. You need to get curious and active in the process meaning you need to mind map.

Treat each chapter in a textbook as if it was a book in itself.

Review your mind maps daily for the first week after creating them then once a week. If you notice and decline in memory you can quickly review those pages of the book.

Books with questions provide a moderate amount of insight as to what you need to know for a general understanding of a chapter us that only as a guide to your general knowledge. Remember your purpose for studying and look at your trigger words for activation as well

The first activation pass should be of the whole textbook from cover to cover. Give that process 30 minutes, some things you will recognise other stuff will be new. On most textbooks this is only enough time to get an insight as to what the book is about.

There after remember to treat each chapter as a book and activate in 20 to 30 minute cycles until it gels.

Also I want to confirm that my Photofocus is correct. When I keep the book at right angles to my eyes I can see a narrow rounded page in the cntre, but in any other angle i fail to get it consistently. So I just notice the four edges and the other surrouding me like tables, paper weights..
Just getting softgaze with blurred text and complete view of the two pages is necessary for correct photofocus ? or effective PRing ?

All that seems to be fine. Your problem areas don't seem to be photofocus.

Also I am not sure on how to use that affirmations ,purpose statements etc in the examination point of view and the general.
(Please include some examples also)

The affirmations are explained in the book if in doubt use those before and after photoreading.

"Purpose Statement"... your purpose, why are you reading the book or better yet why are you studying? What are you going to do with the information you obtain from the book? That becomes your statement or intention of purpose.

"etc in the examination point of view and the general."

You mean to pass an exam? Why do you want to pass the exam? What are you going to do with the information you learn, in your life? That's your purpose. One suggestion is 'so that I obtain my best possible passing grade so that I can...' you fill in the blank so that you can [whatever your purpose is].

Also consider learning to photoread with a couple of books that are not study related but of personal interest first.

Do the 5 day test on them and get to know what activation is like for you. If you have difficulty with the photoreading process it's going to interfer with your learning process. If you have difficulty understanding your subject you're going to have difficulty learning photoreading on that suject. Once you know how the process of photoreading works for you you can apply it to studying confidently. Right now how do you tell if it's really photoreading that you have trouble with or just plain difficulty with the subject you're trying to cover?
